or many years. But there always remains a fear that, these white patches
may return back and spread even more widely than before.
1. Skin camouflage Or Self Tanning Lotions:
Skin camouflage involves applying colored creams to your skin to help the white patches blend with the rest of your skin. The creams match your skin’s natural color. These creams includes cosmetics like; Derma blend, Chromelin Complexion Blender and Cover mark-up.
Self-tanning lotion (fake tan) may also help to cover vitiligo. Some types of these lotions can last for several days before you need to reapply them.
2. Treatment of Vitiligo By Steroid Cream:
The use of corticosteroid (steroid) cream for between four to six weeks may helps to stop the spread of the patches, and may restore your original skin color. Steroid cream should only be used for a limited time because long-term use may cause side effects.
3. Treating Vitiligo with Light therapy Or PUVA PUVA light vitiligo treatment has a high success rate; about 50-70% vitiligo patients show very good response after this treatment. It is a very successful but time-consuming treatment for Vitiligo. Over less than 50% of patient body affected surface get its original color through this treatment. But it does not work for every patient.
In light therapy, a patient has to stand in a light box for 15-30 minutes, and then his skin is exposed to ultraviolet A (UVA) light from a special lamp. He must have to take a pill (psoralen) one hour prior to coming in doctor’s clinic. This therapy requires 2-4 tines treatment per week and for batter result it needs 100-300 treatments, it often takes a year or more in order to treat with affected area of skin.
Note: PUVA (psoralen and ultraviolet A light) treatment can cause skin cancer because of the extra exposure to UVA rays. Therefore, it is not recommended for children or pregnant women. Ultraviolet B (UVB) light is also sometimes used in light therapy.

Doctors normally prescribed it to severe vitiligo cases like; patients those have vitiligo, more than 50% on their bodies. When this process is completed, the patient's skin gets uniform color (pale white). A special medicine Benoquim/ Monobenzone, that can only a doctor prescribes, is used in this process. This medication gives permanent whitening to the dark areas of the skin and should only be used as a last resort. This medication should only apply on the white patches twice a day for a year.
